Trick or Treat!

Halloween's fast approaching, kaya naman, to break the monotony in the office, we held the annual Trick or Treat for kids. Sons, daughters, nieces and nephews of Medicard employees were invited to participate in the program. This was the first time I made time to pack candies sa lootbags. Never ko ginawa yan kasi nanghihinayang ako sa mahal ng candies at tinatamad ako, hehe... Naalala ko, I really need to give these kids something man lang kasi malamang sa malamang papasukin nila ang room ko at magt-trick or treat sa kin. =)
I enjoyed the activity so much kasi sobrang daming magagandang kids! Hehe...
It was really fun and I'm looking forward to more activities like these here at Medicard.

I just got regularized!

My boss just signed my regularization letter and I'm glad he gave me mostly 4's (5's the highest). I was so surprised that he called me to his office, which he doesn't normally do... I thought he saw something na naman sa Avaya that I didn't see... Yun pala, he just wanted me to sign my performance review and regularization letter... Yahoo!!! All the sakits of my ulo paid off!!! Haaayyy... I'm entitled to the benefits na!!! And super happy ako kasi covered ang cauterization of warts sa HMO ko... hehehe...
And to celebrate that, my friends and I went out to dinner although kulang kami ng 1. Then chikahan lang ng bonggang bongga. Actually, yung buong team nagpapalibre kaso di pwede kasi di ba nagbayad ako ng Chris Brown ticket... hehehe...

Elay's Wedding

I went to another wedding... 2 marnixes down, 6 to go... It's Elay's wedding @ Bellevue and syempre andun na naman kami. We lack 2 marnixes though--that's Ceej (she's in Riyadh) and Leen (confirmed but did not attend). Ganun pala yung Protestant/Born Again wedding. It's like catholic wedding din pero merong additional na element--Sand. I forgot what it means, basta merong colored sand na tinransfer sa isang flask. I was so moved especially when Elay's saying her personal vows na. Super touching... The couple cried rin nga. Grabe sobrang haaayyy... I'm happy for them especially kay Elay coz she got what she always wanted--super bait and responsible guy. They're both lucky to have each other.
...And since ngayon na lang ulit kami nagkasama sama nila Keat, we went out pa for coffee @ BoNa Cafe. Ayun, super kwento lang til midnight over coffee. Ok pala dun sa BoNa Cafe... =)

No Air

Feel ko na ang Chris Brown concert... :)
Tell me how I'm suppose to breathe with no air ...
If I Should die Before I wake, Its cause You took My breath Away. Losing you is like living in a world with no air
I'm here, Alone, Didn't want To leave. My heart won't move, It's incomplete. Wish there Was a way That I can make you to understand,
But How, Do you expect me, To live alone with just me? 'Cause my world revolves around you, Its so hard for me to breathe.
Tell me how I'm supposed to breathe with no air. Can't live, can't breathe with no air. That's how I feel when I know you ain't there. There's No Air ,No Air. Got me out here in the water so deep. Tell me how you gon' be without me. If you ain't here, I just can't breathe. Its No Air No Air. No air air No air air No air air No air air
I Walked, I Ran, I Jumped, I Flew, Right off the ground, To float to you. There's no gravity, To hold me down, For real.
But Somehow I'm still alive inside. You took my breath, But I survived. I don't know how, But I don't even care.
So How, Do you expect me, To live alone with just me? 'Cause my world revolves around you, Its so hard for me to breathe.
Tell Me How I'm supposed to breathe with no air. Can't live can't breathe with no air. That's how I feel when I know you ain't there. Its No Air No Air. Got me out here in the water so deep. Tell me how you gon' be without me. If you ain't here, I just can't breathe There's No Air No Air No air air No air air
Its No Air No Air Heyyy..
No Aiiiiiir
Tell Me How I'm supposed to breathe with no air. Can't live can't breathe with no air. That's how I feel when I know you ain't there. There's No Air No Air. Got me out here in the water so deep. Tell me how you gon' be without me. If you ain't here I just can't breathe. There's No Air No Air. Do you expect me, To live alone with just me? 'Cause my world revolves around you, I'ts so hard for me to breathe.
Tell Me How I'm supposed to breathe with no air. Can't live can't breathe with no air. That's how I feel when I know you ain't there. It's No Air No Air.
Got me out here in the water so deep.
Tell me how you gon' be without me.
If you ain't here, I just can't breathe.
There's No Air No Air No air air .

Quarter-life crisis at 29

What is Quarter-life crisis?
According to the ever reliable wikipedia, quarter-life crisis is...
-a term applied to the period of life immediately following the major changes of adolescence, usually ranging from the early twenties to the early thirties.
The following are the characteristics of quarter-life crisis...
  • feeling "not good enough" because one can't find a job that is at one's academic/intellectual level frustration with relationships, the working world, and finding a suitable job or career
  • confusion of identity
  • insecurity regarding the near future
  • insecurity concerning long-term plans, life goals
  • insecurity regarding present accomplishments
  • re-evaluation of close interpersonal relationships
  • disappointment with one's job
  • nostalgia for university, college, high school or elementary school life
  • tendency to hold stronger opinions
  • boredom with social interactions
  • loss of closeness to high school and college friends
  • financially-rooted stress (overwhelming college loans, unanticipatedly high cost of living, etc.)
  • loneliness desire to have children
  • a sense that everyone is, somehow, doing better than you

I have at least 6 out of these 14 characteristics and I guess papasa na may quarter-life crisis ako ngayon... I thought of writing this blog because nag-sink in sa kin na ikakasal na si Beloy at Noreen. Ang alam ko December or earlier pa, that is pag naayos ang papers nila sa China, kung hindi pa, baka 1st quarter of 2009. Dumating na si Beloy nung Monday from Shanghai to fix his working visa and since magwowork na rin si Noreen sa university na pinagtuturuan ni Beloy, they have to stay in one roof thus, they have to get married. In our religion, live-in is a no-no so walang choice but ipakasal sila. Nauna pa sila kay Ate and mixed emotions ako... I'm happy for them at the same time sad kasi may isa akong sibling na lalagay na sa tahimik at nauna pa sa kin... kamusta naman yon? Tapos feeling ko wala akong pinapatunguhan. Work lang ako ng work then what? Haaayyy... But, I'm excited na rin mag-ayos ng wedding nila in fairness... =) Tapos meron pang ganitong eksena last night sa dinner table...

Prunes...

Kamusta naman kulay Prunes na ko... My churchmates and I went swimming sa Taguig lang naman and di naman ako masyado nag-enjoy kasi hindi sya beach. But I tried to enjoy na rin kasi friends ko naman sa church ang kasama. Sobrang budget trip talaga to...
Fare going to my friend's house (taga Better din): P 7.00
Fare going to Taguig from Better Living: None
1 liter of bottled water for myself: P 15.00
5 Sodas na tig 1.5 L (my share): P 170.00
Entrance Fee: P 120.00
Cottage: None
Videoke: P 30.00
Fare going back: P 63.00
TOTAL Expenses P 405.00

Ahaha... Pero deadma na. I love my color!

Mejo nagkaron kasi ng weather changes--umulan, umaraw then umuulan habang may araw. Haayyy... super pagod ako and yung face and arms and shoulders ko ay super nagsi-sting...
This is a pic ng one of the sides ng pool...

:-)

I just had a phone conversation w/ bestie... Meron akong nalaman... at hindi ako kinikilig... hindeee... =) Oh well, let's just say that it has something to do with her lakad nung Tuesday sa bank. (see related story at Angel's blog. Hehe...)

One Great Love

"The One Great Love (from salon.com)

Some people -- it is not certain if they are the lucky ones or the unlucky ones -- have had One Great Love; a love whose intensity and mutuality allowed no doubt that it was the real thing; a love that never lost its quality of strangeness; a love that, years later, still makes the throat catch when it's remembered; a love whose unfolding remolded the selves of both people, as when a graft on a branch forms a new tree. In some cases -- may they be happy! -- these couples stay together. In others, the couple resist the graft, spooked by the power of the enchantment that entwined them, or disliking the new hybrid. They separate, and the separation is damaging; it is like surgery. The two people stagger off their separate ways, unentwined, fiercely seeking to resume their prior independence, but it cannot be fully restored. They retain the twists of the joint self they formed against the now-absent other half. "

I guess most of us have heard about this One Great Love. According to the excerpt above, your one love who still gives you a lump in your throat whenever he/she's remembered. I for one have that one great love who still "haunts" me.
It's been more than two years since I broke up with my long time boyfriend but everytime I see, smell or hear anything that can be associated with him, I feel this certain pang of regret and longing. Regret because I still have those what if's and what could've been's... Longing because I still imagine myself being with this person.
For the past weeks, I have been dreaming about my one great love and have been missing him so much... for reasons I can't explain. Is it maybe because I'm still single and he's married? Or is it because I just miss him? I really don't know... Could it be that he also misses me? I don't want to consider that idea because I know that he doesn't.
I really hate what I'm feeling right now but it seems that everything around me reminds me of him (even the guy I always see at the shuttle terminal). It's as if I'm going through the pain again... As if the break up is fresh and I'm (again) in the process of moving on... I was thinking, how can I really move on if until now it's him and him only...???

Spoiled Brat Angelinas

Eksena: Shift bid. Syempre, the agent with perfect attendance will be the first to choose his schedule. Meron ng naka-schedule the night shift but yung agent na yon e ayaw mag-night shift. Knowing that he has tardiness and absences the past month, ang gusto nya mangyari ay papiliin ng schedule yung friend nyang perfect attendance tapos swap sila. So bale no, yung magandang sched mapupunta don sa supposedly night shift na agent tapos ang papalit sa kanya sa night eh yung friend nya. Gets?
That's unfair! And, I won't give considerations anymore. I have given you too much of it since last month, this time I will be stricter... And I'm serious!
Syempre yung kasunod nyang agent natakot at nanginginig magtanong sa kin... hehe... first time ko nasabi yon sa agent promise. Then, same agent, lumapit ulit after ko kausapin.
Haayyy...

Training and Amici

I just realized that I can't do what Gladys does at Teletech--to talk and talk for the entire shift. I was done training our CSRs about the proper call handling and each class had 4 training hours. So bale no, otso oras ako nagtatatalak sa isang araw. Good thing though, nag-enjoy naman kami. For starters, we had a game, yung Pass the Message na game and the winning team had chocolates for each of the members. After ng game, training proper na... We listened to some calls then got the agents' insights about the calls, meron din question and answer churva and syempre, our lunch is free (we had KFC Overload Meal. Yum!). Super tiring talaga but at least I have something to put in my resume *wink*

During our lunch break, I checked my phone and found out that Josh called, thrice na. So yun, I texted him and syempre sabi ko nagtetrain ako. Wala pang 1 minute after the message was sent, nagriring na yung cell ko. It was Josh. He told me that he's in QC and nagsimba and that he's currently in a bookstore na may mga old books. I forgot the name of the bookstore but it's in Morato daw. May Amici nga pala dito". Siraulo talaga to si Josh... eh I feel like eating Italian that time and ayoko pa umuwi so sabi ko "we're done na by 5 PM, gusto mo puntahan kita jan?" Being the gentleman that he is he said "wag na, sunduin na lang kita jan sa office". So, sabi ko "tapos Amici tayo?". So there... I hang up na and continued with the training. Around 5, asa baba na ng building namin si Josh, ayun nagkwento na ng nagkwento about his weekend sa QC and how he super enjoyed the bookstore he was telling me about kanina.

Before going to Amici, pinasyal nya muna ako sa favorite Japanese restaurant nyang Izakaya Kikufuji. And he's right, mga Japanese ang kumakain don--siguro mga nakatira na dito. [TRIVIA: Izakaya = drinking establishment, cheap place for after-work drinking] The place really looks like the traditional izakaya na napapanood ko lang sa mga Japanese movies--tatami mats, low tables, the likes... Tapos, Little Japan (or Little Tokyo ata) pala yung tawag dun sa place na yon kasi sa may bandang likod ng resto ay magkakadikit na resto din and according to Josh, they hold Japanese Festival there annually. Btw, the place is in Pasong Tamo near Makati Cinema Square.
These are pictures I got from wikipedia and photobucket.com. Yung lantern says Izakaya.
Syempre after nya ko ipasyal sa Little Japan, we went straight to Amici. He also told me how super nanghihinayang sya kasi commercialized na ang Amici ngayon unlike before. I ordered Spaghetti Parmegiana, he ordered Fettuccini (I think), instead of ordering Coke, he ordered a box of Orange juice (na ipinagdadamot nya daw sa office.. hehe) and for desert, we had Gelato. Syempre Strawberry sa kin tapos Chocolate sa kanya with choco chips. Ang sssaaarrrappp! Promise. And talk about sweetness, binilhan nya ko ng 3 DVDs (City of God, Vantage Point and Inside Man) e hindi naman ako nagpapabili. At syempre, tawa lang ako ng tawa the whole time na magkasama kami... =)

Monday Wedding

Wedding ng friend ko from church last Sept. I don't know why my friend chose Tangerine for a motif but I really don't like that color. In fairness, complementing ang aking blouse sa motif... Yellow. Here are some pics...
Bride and Groom
Me and my friend na bride's maid, Laarni
Us with the groom (actually crush ko to dati... hehe)

Couch Potato on Eid Al Fitr Holiday

I watched 2 DVDs (courtesy of Joshua) and slept lang for looonnnggg hours... Grabe sarap ng buhay! Tapos rainy day pa.
So bale no (parang si Harry lang) after having breakfast, doing the chores sa house and fixing my room, I decided to watch Vantage Point. Unfortunately, sira yung DVD and Josh said na papalitan na lang nya (since sya naman ang nagbigay). So, Inside Man na lang and City of God yung pinanood ko. Ayos tong movies na to I swear! Kaya lang, sobrang violent ng City of God tapos naiyak pa ko sa scene when 2 little boys were shot sa toes tapos yung isa was killed ng tuluyan... Grabe, until now pag naaalala ko sya, naluluha ako. YA knows na iyakin ako sa movies (I even cried over the movie Powder)... and maybe that's the reason why I really don't like watching movies. Ok na ko sa DVD. Hehe...
I copied synopsis of the movies I mentioned from Wikipedia:

Taking place over the course of over two decades, City of God tells the story of Cidade de Deus (Portuguese for City of God), a lower class quarter west of Rio de Janeiro. The film is told from the viewpoint of a boy named Rocket (Busca pé in Portuguese) who grows up there as a fishmonger's son, and demonstrates the desperation and violence inherent in the slums. Based on a real story, the movie depicts drug abuse, violent crime, and a boy's struggle to free himself from the slums' grasp.
The movie begins cinematically depicting chickens being prepared for a meal. A chicken escapes and as an armed gang chases after it bumps into Rocket who believes that the gang wants to kill him. The movie then flashes back ten years earlier, to tell the story of how he got himself into that position.
Three "hoodlums", "The Tender Trio", one being Rocket's brother, Goose, are terrorizing local businesses with armed holdups. In Robin Hood fashion they split part of the loot with the citizens of City of God and are protected by them. Li'l Dice is a hanger-on who convinces them to hold up a motel and rob its occupants. Li'l Dice ("Dadinho" in Portuguese), serving as lookout, fires a warning shot, then proceeds to slaughter the inhabitants. The massacre brings on the attention of the police forcing the three to quit their criminal ways. Each meets an untimely end, except one who decides to join the church. Goose, Rocket's brother, is slain by Li'l Dice after robbing the younger boy and his friend Benny who have been hiding out and committing crimes themselves.
The movie fast forwards a number of years. Li'l Dice now calls himself Li'l Zé ("Zé Pequeno" in Portuguese), and, along with his childhood friend Benny, he establishes a drug empire by eliminating all of the competition except for a drug dealer named Carrot ("Cenoura" in Portuguese). Meanwhile, Rocket has become a part of the "Groovies" a hippie-like group of youth that enjoy smoking pot. He begins his photography career shooting his friends, especially one girl that he is infatuated with, but who is dating another boy.
A relative peace has come over City of God under the reign of Li'l Zé who plans to eliminate his last rival, Carrot, against the judgment of his best friend Benny, who is keeping the peace. At one point, his best friend and partner in crime Benny has decided to become a "playboy" and becomes the "coolest guy in City of God". Eventually, along with the girl that he has wooed away from Rocket, he decides to leave the criminal life behind to live on a farm. However, he is gunned down at his going away party by former drug dealer, Blackie, who is actually aiming for Li'l Zé. Benny was the only thing keeping Li'l Ze from taking over Carrot's business, so now Carrot is in danger.
Li'l Zé humiliates a peace loving man Knockout Ned at the party and afterwards rapes his girlfriend and kills Ned's uncle and younger brother. Ned turns violent and sides with Carrot. After killing one of Li'l Ze's men, Ned starts a war between the two rival factions that creates a "Vietnam" of City of God. Jealous of Ned's notoriety in the newspapers, Li'l Zé has Rocket take photos of himself and his gang which, unknown to Rocket, are taken by a reporter and published in the daily paper. Rocket then mistakenly fears for his life believing that Li'l Zé will want to kill him for it. In actuality, Li'l Zé is pleased with his newfound fame.
Coming full circle, Rocket is startled by Li'l Zé's request that he take a picture of the gang which had been chasing the chicken at the beginning of the film. Before he can, however, a gunfight ensues between the two gangs, but is broken up by the police. Ned is killed by a boy who has infiltrated his gang to avenge his father, who was killed by Ned during a bank robbery. Li'l Zé and Carrot are arrested and Carrot is taken away to show to the press. Li'l Zé is shaken down for money, humiliated and finally released, all of which is secretly photographed by Rocket. After the cops leave, the Runts (a gang of young children who robbed and terrorized the local merchants) come upon Li'l Zé and shoot and kill him in retribution for him killing one of their gang earlier in the film. Rocket takes pictures of Li'l Zé's dead body and goes to the newspaper.
Rocket is seen in the newspaper office looking at all of his photographs through a magnifying glass, and deciding whether or not to put the pictures of the crooked cops in the newspaper, or the picture of Ze's dead body. The photos of the cops would make him famous but put him in danger, while the photos of Li'l Zé would guarantee him a job at the paper. He decides to take the safe route and gives the paper the picture of Li'l Zé's bullet-ridden body, which runs on the front page.
The story ends with the Runts walking around the City of God, making a hit list of the dealers they plan to kill to take over their drug business.

Inside Man opens with a closeup of Dalton Russell (Clive Owen) sitting in confinement, though the location of the cell he is in is not revealed. He muses, to the audience, the difference between a cell and a prison and offers to explain to the viewer his "perfect" plan for a bank robbery.[1]
The film flashes back to the robbers, who refer to each other using variants of the name "Steve", gathering in a van to prepare for the heist. Led by Russell, the robbers enter a bank disguised as painters. Knocking out the security cameras, they brandish firearms and begin taking over the bank, moving staff and customers deeper into the bank, confiscating cell phones and keys, Russell delivering a beating to a manager who attempts to withhold his. The robbers force all of the hostages to don the same clothes as the robbers, hooded coveralls with sunglasses and masks. They lock them in a number of different rooms, periodically moving them around, and also substituting themselves in as hostages occasionally, each one making a scene to ensure that the other hostages take note of them.
Meanwhile, the police arrive and surround the bank. Detectives Keith Frazier (Denzel Washington) and Bill Mitchell (Chiwetel Ejiofor) introduce themselves to Captain Darius (Willem Dafoe) and briefly discuss the situation.
Meanwhile Arthur Case (Christopher Plummer), chairman of the board of directors and founder of the bank, hires fixer Madeleine White (Jodie Foster) to try to arrange for the contents of his safe deposit box at the bank to remain secret. White meets with the mayor, then manipulates Frazier to let her talk to Russell. Mentioning the special interests she wants to protect, she persuades Russell to let her enter the bank to talk. When White requests access to the safe deposit box, Russell shows her a document, which indicates that Case had received money, enough to set up his bank, from the Nazis during World War II for unspecified services that resulted in Jewish deaths. After assuring Russell that Case will make him a very wealthy man if he is able to escape the bank with this document, White leaves.
Attempting a bluff, Frazier tells Russell that his plane is ready but he needs to know that all the hostages are safe before he can let them leave. Russell allows him to enter the bank, and Frazier is taken on a tour of the building and checks all the hostages, while they discuss the situation, and also Frazier's desire to propose to his girlfriend, something which Russell suggests he should do regardless of finances. Upon exiting the bank, Frazier attempts to overpower Russell, only to fail when another robber comes to Russell's aid. Russell still lets Frazier leave unharmed with seemingly no repercussion for his attack. Frazier reveals to his colleagues that he intentionally tried to provoke Russell, but as Russell did not harm him, he believes that Russell is not a killer.
Soon after, the robbers call and direct the police to point their cameras to a specific window on the second floor, where they show the execution of one of the hostages. An enraged Frazier confronts Russell again, demanding to know their true intentions. Russell simply replies that Frazier is "too damn smart to be a cop" and closes the door on him.
The hostage execution prompts the ESU team into action, and they plan to raid the building, intending to use rubber bullets to knock everyone out. Frazier, however, realizes that the written message Russell sent out has a transmitter inside it. He orders Captain Darius, in command of police on the scene, to recall his men, but Darius ignores him.
Inside the bank, Russell hears the conversation between Darius and Frazier and is alarmed that the police plan to move in. The robbers detonate smoke bombs throughout the bank and release the hostages, leading to a horde of identically dressed people exiting through the smoke, in a mass of confusion. The police detain and interrogate everyone, however, due to the robbers earlier pretence in the bank, Frazier is unable to identify any of them, even Russell, who is missing. No money has been stolen and no people killed or seriously injured, the hostage execution having been faked. Even the weapons left behind were merely toy replicas, leaving it as if the incident never occurred, prompting Frazier's boss to bury the case.
Frazier however keeps looking through the bank's records and finds that safe deposit box #392 never appeared on any records since the bank's founding. He obtains a search warrant from a judge to open it. He is then confronted by White, who informs him of Case's dealings with the Nazis. She also tries to convince Frazier to drop his investigation, reminding him that she has held up her end of her deal with him (guaranteeing he would be promoted, and returning money he was implicated in stealing prior to the events of the movie). He refuses again, and points out there was no deal that he agreed to, and using a James Bond-style recording pen to replay the conversation.
White confronts Case about dealings with the Nazis, in which he confesses everything to her. He also reveals that the safe contained diamonds, including a Cartier ring, belonging to a Jewish friend whom he allowed to die at the hands of the Nazis in exchange for money. He is remorseful for what he did, and had thus led a life of philanthropy and humanitarianism to try to assuage his guilt.
It is then revealed that Russell hid himself behind a fake wall erected inside the supply room (literally, the "inside man"), where he was narrating from the beginning of the movie. He emerges a week after the "robbery" was committed, deliberately bumping into Frazier (who does not recognize him) along the way. Russell is picked up by his associates, and is presumably never caught. Russell's associates ask him for the ring, and Russell reveals it is in good hands, namely Frazier's.
Frazier opens the safe deposit box to find the Cartier ring and a message, "Follow the ring." He confronts Case, informing him of his desire to investigate the ring. He then finds White telling her that the ring was linked to Case's past. He offers White the pen with the recording, and gives her a card to have the Office of War Crimes Issues at the U.S. State Department look into the situation.
After his final encounter with White, Frazier goes home and finds a diamond in his pocket, realising that that it must have been put there by the man he bumped into in the bank. As the movie ends, it is implied that Frazier will use the diamond to propose to his girlfriend.
So, after watching, my eyes were watery na and tired so I slept until dinner time. Wow... And I thought wala na kong maiitulog that night... I was wrong. Iba talaga nagagawa ng Stresstabs...

Pakbet! Pakbet talaga... haaayyy... :(
